My name is Mathias and I’m a young professional fresh out of the university. I studied business strategy, network economics and computer science and currently work for a consulting firm in Paris, France.
My main interests lie in freedom and privacy but when it comes to my projects I mainly push for value capture through data leveraging and automation. I tend to gravitate toward niche use-cases or communities because I believe they offer the greatest potential based on the resources I have available.
My blog
Through the years I worked on multiple subjects on my free time. I always loved how people were sharing content on the web from tech blogs to niche communities, sometimes with quite a small audience. I feel like providing utility to someone other than me through this posts is a way of giving back to those who tried the same. I started my blog in May 2023 and will document past projects dating back to 2017.
Some of the projects I’ll share include : a script to search for Bitcoin vanity addresses, an automated sport-betting tool to take advantage of load-management in the NBA, a related linear regression built on NBA data, a complete DeFi service offering financial derivatives, and much more.
Some of the thoughts I’ll work on still need guidelines when it comes to thematics. I was thinking about bold takes in the spirit of the book Freakonomics by Steven Levitt.
While this blog is not a massive undertaking, it is more than just a stone in the ocean; it’s a chance for me to exercise while documenting my modest work and humble thoughts.
My tools
- My favorite language is Go, I can also write decent Python code, (and have to when it comes to data analysis), but don’t like the work environement as much.
- I experimented with R Studio during my Master’s degree and found it quite convenient for detailed research project but not as user-friendly as other mainstream languages.
- I’d also have to mention Solidity which is an Ethereum (and other projects) specific language. I quite like the rigidity of it to be frank, working with it as a team would probably make me change my mind though. I also learnt a bit of Bitcoin script but it’s not even turing complete so different category I’d say.
- On the front-end side, I have basic knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript but did not get into any of the js frameworks. I may do it for a blog post at some point.
- Postgres is my go to database service. I use Gorm as my default ORM for Go.
- I usually use Google cloud to deploy my services (expect for the databases) as its quite user friendly and cheap at the same time.
- I also experienced with Tableau Software and the SAP services, Analysis for Office, Jira and Notion through job experiences.
- I also do have basic video editing and Photoshop skills (Photopea actually).
